Photo: Kevin Morris<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s half-marathon<\/h2>\n<p>Wodak is the sole elite Canadian competitor in the women&#8217;s half-marathon event. While she competes primarily in the marathon, the 43-year-old is still familiar with shorter races\u2013she holds a half-marathon personal best of 1:09:41. Wodak is fresh off her first national marathon title at the 2024 Canadian Marathon Championships in October, and took home ninth place in Houston last January.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s half-marathon<\/h2>\n<p>Four Canadian men will line up for the men&#8217;s half-marathon, led by 5K and 10K national record holder <a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/ben-flanagan-breaks-his-national-record-at-canadian-10k-championships\/\"><strong>Ben Flanagan<\/strong><\/a>. The Kitchener, Ont., native holds a personal best of 1:01:00 from 2022, and will be looking to kick off his 2025 season with a strong performance. Paris Olympic 5,000m finalist <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/the-scene\/canadian-olympic-hopeful-turns-pro-with-brooks-running\/\">Thomas Fafard<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong>of Quebec will return to Houston after a 12th-place finish in 2024, where he set his half marathon personal best of 1:02:17. Milton, Ont.&#8217;s <strong>Ben Preisner<\/strong>, Canada&#8217;s third-fastest marathoner, will also toe the line after an eight-month hiatus from racing. The 26-year-old will be joined by compatriots <a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/natasha-wodak-and-andrew-alexander-storm-to-course-records-at-blacktoe-holiday-10k\/\"><strong>Andrew Alexander<\/strong><\/a> of Toronto and <a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/rachel-hannah-and-phil-parrot-migas-speed-to-wins-at-the-2024-around-the-bay-road-race\/#\"><strong>Phil Parrot-Migas<\/strong><\/a> of London, Ont., both boasting fresh personal bests from October.
