Photo: Kevin Morris<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The former record of 2:30:28, belonging to <strong>Jason Faber<\/strong> of Toronto, has stood since the race&#8217;s first year in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander, 26, was pacing another Toronto runner, <strong>Brandon Raftis <\/strong>(brother of one of Canada&#8217;s up-and-coming women&#8217;s marathon stars, <a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/top-canadian-results-at-boston-marathon-2025\/\"><strong>Kylee Raftis<\/strong><\/a>) for his marathon debut. The plan was for Alexander to run just 25 km as a workout\u2013but after coming through halfway in 75 minutes, he dropped a 66-minute half-marathon on the back half to take an unanticipated win.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"UeegkZYuwo\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/torontos-own-andrew-alexander-aims-to-be-canadas-next-great-marathoner\/\">Toronto&#8217;s own Andrew Alexander aims to be Canada&#8217;s next great marathoner<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content lazyload\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Toronto&#8217;s own Andrew Alexander aims to be Canada&#8217;s next great marathoner&#8221; &#8212; Canadian Running Magazine\" data-src=\"https:\/\/runningmagazine.ca\/sections\/runs-races\/torontos-own-andrew-alexander-aims-to-be-canadas-next-great-marathoner\/embed\/#?secret=7rgd4zV6R9#?secret=UeegkZYuwo\" data-secret=\"UeegkZYuwo\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Raftis just clinched his race-day goal of dipping under two and a half hours, clocking 2:29:40 for second place. <strong>Parker Mills<\/strong> of New Tecumseth, Ont., took third in 2:31:00.<\/p>\n<p>Georgina marked Alexander&#8217;s third marathon; he made his debut last October at the 2024 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon (2:14:13), and lowered his time to 2:12:55 at January&#8217;s Houston Marathon.
